Chelsea is one of those neighborhoods where the name alone does significant work.

Say it to a buyer in Singapore, São Paulo, or Stockholm and they know immediately what it means: a specific quality of life, a specific level of address, a specific London that exists in the imagination of internationally mobile people who want the best and know what to look for.

That reputation is not unfounded. The streets between the King's Road and the Embankment — Cheyne Walk, Tite Street, Oakley Street, Glebe Place — are among the most beautiful in London. The Victorian and Queen Anne architecture along the river reaches a standard of craftsmanship that is simply not reproducible at any cost. The Physic Garden. The river light. The particular quality of a Chelsea autumn afternoon.

14 days DOM is the highest of the neighborhoods I cover, and that number deserves an explanation rather than an apology. Chelsea buyers are disproportionately international, often making a purchase from overseas, and the due diligence at this price point is thorough. A correctly priced, well-presented Chelsea property does not sit because it isn't wanted — it takes 14 days because the people buying it are doing so carefully, from a distance, with significant sums. That is not weakness in the market. It is the nature of the buyer.
